Description:
Need a GIS Student in advanced standing to help with grading for GEOG 2800 and help with project work. Grade and assist the professor as needed, this may include: grading papers, classroom assistance, lab prep and/or lab demonstrations. May also be required to host group study sessions.The TA may assist with course-related field trips as a driver and/or co-leader, course-related planning and logistics, grading, and maintaining program equipment. Along with other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities:
GIS and Data Management:
- Assist in the collection, processing, and management of spatial data from various sources (e.g., GPS, remote sensing, databases).
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of geospatial databases.
- Develop maps and other visual representations of spatial data using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Perform spatial analysis tasks to support project objectives, such as habitat mapping, resource assessment, or recreational planning.
- Assist in the development of GIS workflows and documentation.
- Collaborate with IIC staff and partner agency personnel on GIS-related projects.
- Potentially participate in fieldwork activities for spatial data collection.
- Prepare and present findings and project outcomes through maps, reports, or presentations.
Qualifications:
- GIS Student in advanced standing.
- Students must have successfully completed needed courses as determined by the Department with a satisfactory grade.
- Have a GPA higher than 3.0 and be in good class standing.
